About our Nest AT
La colline farm
There is a specific stillness found at dawn on La Colline Farm. It is the moment before the Franschhoek sun warms the soil, when the only sound is the rustle of our hens moving through the pasture and tractors being readied for the days work.
This is where we Nest, where our family has farmed for generations, on the hill is where we choose to live slowly, intentionally, with the land, growing real food.
We believe that truly "gourmet" produce cannot be rushed. It is a collaboration between the unique terroir of our valley and a commitment to regenerative, sustainable cycles. We allow our heirloom vegetables and berries to develop their full flavor profile, our honey and our pasture-raised eggs to achieve a richness that only nature—and time—can provide.
Our Story
It tastes like home.
At La Colline Farm, every day begins with simple pleasures: apricot jam spread on freshly baked bread, eggs gathered from our own hens, and the earthy sweetness of a carrot pulled straight from the soil. Honey dripping from the comb reminds us that nature’s (God's) gifts are always the sweetest. These flavors are not just food—they are the essence of life here in the beautiful Franschhoek Valley.
Nearly ten years ago, we—Koos and Michelle—left behind corporate careers in geology and environmental remediation to embrace a different calling. What began as a shift away from remediation has grown into a journey of regeneration—restoring the land, nurturing its vitality, and allowing it to flourish once more.
La Colline is more than a farm; it is our heritage. For generations, the Roux family has cared for this soil, and we see ourselves as guardians of its story, protecting and stewarding it for those yet to come. Our daughter learns while she plays among the orchards and chickens, embracing the slow life.
We invite you to share in this inheritance. Taste the depth of flavor that only comes from land loved across generations. Experience the wonder of food grown with care, and join us in celebrating the beauty of a farm that is more than a place—it is a way of life. Above all, it is a taste of home.
